10 Cosy Crochet Patterns for Autumn

2020-10-29 | 15:16:00

Pin it now, make later!

As the weather gets colder, my thoughts turn to being cosy. There’s something so satisfying about curling up at the end of the day with a crochet blanket on your lap and a mug of cocoa (marshmallows included, of course!) Or taking a rainy walk through the woods, all bundled up in a warm crochet hat, wrist warmers and scarf and kicking up the Autumn leaves. You really can’t beat crochet for evoking feelings of cosiness and warmth. I’ve put together this guide to share some of my very favourite cosy crochet patterns that are ideal for Autumn. They vary in style and use but all stir up that quintessential feeling of warmth and snugness. So, without further ado, grab a cup of something warm and let’s take a look at my favourite cosy crochet patterns.

Cosiness is such a fundamental part of my Autumn experience, I started a CAL inspired by staying toasty in the cooler weather. The CAL officially ends on November 4th, so there’s still time to join in. Why not pick a pattern and join us in the Bella Coco Crochet Club Facebook group to chat about your progress?

There’s not much cosier than a blanket, is there? For this collection, I’ve chosen the Bon Chance Blanket. This beautiful throw isn’t just warm and snug – it’s bright. And when the days are getting darker and more gloomy, this pop of rainbow brightness is just what you need to keep your spirits up. Katie’s stunning blanket is suitable for beginners and you get the added bonus of keeping your knees warm while you work with this lovely lap blanket! A blanket is one of the quintessential cosy crochet patterns.

The second the temperature drops and the heating comes on in the house, I immediately start nesting. Gathering together as many cosy bits and pieces as possible. Warm crochet blankets, scented candles and soft, crochet cushions.

Speaking of cushions, the next two patterns will make your pad perfectly snug just in time for colder weather. Ready to meet your new fave cosy crochet patterns?

The Autumn Boho Pillow from Rebecca at Yarn & Chai combines simple stitches with beautifully soft and snug yarn to create a cushion that you won’t want to share. It’s perfect for sinking into at the end of the day with a good TV show and your current crochet project. And just look at those tassels! So cute.

And because one cushion is never enough, how about this beauty from Briana at Briana K Designs? This Hello Fall Crochet Pillow makes the perfect topper for a pile of pillows. I just adore the Autumn-toned yarn used in the lettering.

Let’s face it, there’s nothing much more Autumnal than a pumpkin, right? From Halloween Jack o’ Lanterns to everyone’s fave coffee order, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, this orange gourd is high on the hitlist for Autumn lovers. So, the next couple of patterns pay tribute to this vibrant veggie.

This pretty Pumpkin Placemat from Erica at Highland Hickory Designs uses my forever favourite, granny squares, to create a cute pumpkin shape that’s ideal for adorning your Autumn table. Just look at that little stalk spiral – too cute!

One of my favourite family Autumn activities is gathering. Brightly coloured leaves, acorns and much more! It’s so much fun to set out on a foraging adventure. But, rather than stuffing pockets full of pinecones, why not gather in style with this stunning pumpkin motif basket from Rachel at Desert Blossom Crafts?

It’s not just your home that deserves to be cosy, you do too. Autumn is the perfect time to flex your crafty muscles and create cute crochet accessories to keep you snug and stylish.

This fun little hat by Wilma of Wilmade creates little Autumn leaf motifs using drop stitches. Isn’t it clever? Topped by a pompom (like all the best hats are!) this is going to become an Autumn staple QUICKLY.

And, just like with cushions…one hat is never enough. My Alaskan Delights hat uses one of my favourite stitches, the alpine stitch to create a wonderfully textured hat that’s topped off with a fab fluffy pompom. It’s the perfect cosy crochet pattern to take you from Autumn to Winter.

The next two patterns aren’t just perfect for keeping warm, they’re hooked up in wonderfully seasonal shades. I absolutely adore Autumn colours, from the warm browns to the glistening golds, there’s something so magical about nature at this time of year. What could be better than matching your warm woollies with nature?

Sewrella’s University Scarf is a thick and quick make that utilises simple crochet stitches to create a huge, warm hug of a scarf. In fact, it’s so simple you can make this scarf in just THREE hours! And, it’s the perfect simple project to hook up while watching TV.

The Faux Fade Wrap by the wonderful Janine from Knits n’ Knots keeps things on trend with the super-cool fade and asymmetric shape. This shawl will fast become a timeless classic. If you use soft neutrals, it will go with everything. And I guarantee that’s a good thing, because you’ll want to be wearing it constantly.

I’m rounding off this collection with a peek at my Cosy CAL patterns, because let’s face it…the clue is in the title. They’re COSY as heck. They also come with the added warmth of taking part in a CAL and delving into the Bella Coco Crochet Club community on Facebook.
