Bobble Circle – Free Pattern

This sweet, squishy circle is a wonderfully tactile design that makes a fun textured crochet circle. From there, you can use it to decorate your crochet, or turn it into a square to make a blanket. Whatever you choose to make with this beautiful bobbly crochet pattern…

I guarantee it will be superbly squishable! I love textured stitches, don’t you?

Quick Tip: These make wonderful face scrubbies if you use a cotton blend yarn – they’re super gentle, while still being scrubby enough to clean!

BOBBLE CIRCLE PATTERN

MATERIALS AND TOOLS NEEDED

Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK

Hook: 4.5mm

Scissors

Darning Needle

PATTERN NOTES

Written in UK terms.

Pattern is worked in joined rounds.

CROCHET TERMS

Bobble: similar to working 4 treble crochet together in one stitch: Yarn over, insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull through (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops (2 loops remain on hook), (yarn over, insert hook into same stitch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) three times until you have 5 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through all loops on hook, chain 1 to secure.  Bobble will pop away from you.

Beginning Bobble (Beg-Bob): Chain 3, (yarn over, insert hook in st at base of ch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) four times until you have 5 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook, chain 1 to secure.  Bobble will pop out away from you

Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook

Double Crochet (dc): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.

Stitch(es) (st(s))

Slip Stitch (ss): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull yarn through stitch and loop on hook

BOBBLE CIRCLE PATTERN

Foundation chain: Ch 4, insert hook into first ch, ss to form a circle.

Round 1: Ch 1, 7 dc in circle, ss in first st of round to join. (7 dc)

Round 2: Beg-Bob in first st, (ch 1, Bobble in next st) around, work 1 bobble in loops of ss from previous round, ss to top of first bobble to join. (8 bobbles)

It will feel like ch 2 between bobbles.  There is one chain to secure the bobble, then one chain to add space between bobbles.

Round 3: Beg-bob in first st, ch 1, bobble in next space between bobbles, (ch 1, bobble in top of next bobble, ch 1, bobble in next space between bobbles) around, ss to top of first bobble to join. (16 bobbles)

Ch 1 and fasten off, weave in any ends.
