Camel Stitch

The Camel Stitch is a beautifully braid-like stitch which gives the look of knitting. This stitch is great for whole projects and also incorporated into blankets as a simple but effective border, Cuffs on a garments or bands on a hat.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS

Yarn: Bella Coco Crochet Irresistible Aran Glacier  60% Cotton 40% Acrylic

Hook: 4.5mm (7)

This pattern gives you the basic principles for the camel stitch, designed to help you create your own projects.

CROCHET TERMS

Slip Stitch(s): ss(s): Insert hook, yarn over pull through stitch and loop on hook

Chain(s): ch(s): Yarn over, pull through

Half Treble Crochet(s): htc(s):  Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all three loop.

WSF: Wrong side facing

RSF: Right side facing

CAMEL STITCH PATTERN

Foundation: work in any amount of stitches to your desired width + 2

Row 1: Htc in 3rd ch from hook and across. Turn

Row 2 (WSF): Ch 2, htc in each st working into 3rd post facing you (this is diagonal the post which can be found just under the top front and back loops it’s sometimes known as the back bar). Turn

Row 3 (RSF): Ch 2, htc in each st working into 3rd post facing away from you. Turn

Repeat or 2 and 3 until you reach your desired height
