Pin it now, make later!

On Tuesday, I officially launched Crochella 2021! If you’d like to catch-up on the deets, then visit this post, Technique Tuesday: Crochet Flowers. Alongside that, the Bella Coco Flower Challenge started. How do you join in? It’s simple. Let me explain… all you need to do is hook up some of the flower patterns from Bella Coco Crochet and then use them to create something beautiful. Today’s blog post is going to show you how to use these flowers to create two different types of crochet flower crowns and some floral bunting. However, you’re welcome to make whatever you want! The sky is the limit. I’d love to see your images on social media. You can tag me on Instagram and Facebook @bellacococrochet and I’ll be re-sharing some of your lovely makes.

MIX + MATCH

The mix + match theme of the Sunburst CAL was so popular that I thought it would be good to revisit it during Crochella 2021! The idea is that you use the flower patterns that you like the best and make each pattern your own. As such, there won’t be a rigid pattern to follow, but rather suggestions and examples. It’s up to you to use your imagination and create something original, unique and beautiful-to-you with the flower patterns!

CROCHET FLOWER CROWN PATTERNS

As mentioned, there aren’t any rigid pattern guidelines to give for this. It’s very much encouraged that you mix + match to create a floral crown that’s 100% YOU. But, if you like the samples…here’s now they were made.

A young girl with brown hair and blue eyes faces an adult woman with blonde hair. The young girl is wearing a pale pink, simple top. On her head sits a crocheted flower crown in shades of pink, white and pale blue. She is smiling at the blonde woman, who is also wearing a simple pale pink top and a crochet flower headband,.

SAMPLE CROCHET FLOWER CROWNS

The crown worn by the little girl uses my crochet roses pattern. It’s made using 7 crochet roses on a slightly thinner headband (using just 5 stitches).

The floral crown worn by the adult woman uses a mixture of patterns and took around 10-15 different flower and leaf motifs.

CROCHET FLOWER CROWN HEADBAND

To make the perfect flower crown, it’s vital that you measure your head across where you want the main body of the crown to sit. This is usually ear-to-ear. This will form the main body of the band.

To this band, you will attach ties to create a comfortable and adjustable floral crown that’s perfect for your own head.

Headband:

Chain 10 and turn

*Ch1 and dc across stitches* repeat until the band matches your head measurement and then tie off.

Chain 50 and then double crochet along the chain to create a tie. Attach this to the main body of the headband. Repeat to make a second tie.

CROCHET BUNTING

You can make a quick bunting string with crochet flowers by connecting flowers to a crochet chain through the middle stitch in a petal. Super easy AND super pretty!
