Crochet Bottle Wrap Free Pattern

As we approach the holiday season, it’s time that us crocheters get some gifting makes on our hook and I have a real treat for you today. I’m delighted to be welcoming back Lucy from @craftingbylucy who’s bringing us this AMAZING crochet bottle wrap perfect for gifting your loved ones their favourite tipple this season.

Materials

HOOK(S)

3.0 mm crochet hook

YARN

50g • approx 125m

Rico Design – Fashion Cotton Metallise DK – 53% Cotton / 35% Acrylic / 12% Metallic  Yarn

Color: Amber 024 / Silver 004 / Chrome 010

NOTIONS

Scissors

Darning needle

2 x stitch markers for attaching the handle

FINAL SIZE

Your base should measure approx 8cm 

Approx 15cm H x 12cm when laid flat.

Handle measures approx 35cm (this can be made shorter or longer depending on your preference)

Pattern notes

This pattern is written in UK terms. 

GAUGE 

Tension is not important for this project, but check the base of your work is big enough to fit the bottle.

Abbreviations

Stitch/es (st/s)

Magic ring: (MR): to make a magic ring, hold thread in your hand and wrap working yarn around forefinger twice to create ring, slip ring off your finger and insert hook to pick up

Chain (Ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook.

Double Crochet(s): dc(s):  Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

Treble crochet (tr): Yarn over and insert your hook into the chain or stitch, yarn over and pull through (you will have three loops on the hook) yarn over and pull through two loops (you will have two loops on your hook) yarn over and pull the yarn through both of the remaining loops on the hook.

Slip Stitch (sl st): Insert hook, yarn over, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.

Back Loop Only: (BLO): work stitch through back loop only

3tr Cluster: 3trcs(s): Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 (2 loops on the hook) Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 (3 loops on the hook). Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 (4 loops on the hook) Yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on the hook. 

2tr Cluster: 2trcs: Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 (2 loops on the hook) Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 (3 loops on the hook). Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on the hook.

Crochet Bottle Wrap Pattern

BASE

Ch 2/3 at the start of each round does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.

Begin by forming a Magic Ring.  ch2, 12tr into the Magic Ring. Pull the ring tight to continue to Round 1.

Round 1  2tr in each st, join with a sl st (24sts)

Round 2 ch2, *1tr in the same st, 2tr. *1tr, 2tr* Repeat 12 times, join with a sl st (36sts)

Round 3 ch2,1tr in the same st, 1tr, 2tr *1tr, 1tr, 2tr* Repeat 12 times, join with a sl st (48sts)

Round 4  ch2, 1tr in the same st,, 2tr *1tr,2tr* Repeat 12 times, join with a sl st (72sts)

Round 5: 1ch, 1dc in each BLO, join with a sl st  (72sts)

Main Body – See Images Step 2 & 3

The body of the gift bag is made up of 19 rounds in total (including Round 5).

Round 6  ch3, 5tr, ch4, sk3, 3tr cluster st, ch 4, sk 3, *tr in next 11, ch4, sk 3, 3tr cluster, ch4, sk3* repeat x 2, 1 tr in each of the last 6 sts, join with a sl st. 

Round 7 ch3, 2tr, *ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, 1dc in the ch space from the prev round, 1dc in the top of the 3trcs from prev round, 1dc in next ch sp. ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, sk next 3tr sts.  5tr sts* Repeat twice more. 

ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, 1dc in the ch space from the prev round, 1dc in the top of the 3trcs from prev round, 1dc in next ch sp. ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, sk next 3tr sts.  3tr sts, join with a sl st. 

Round 8 ch3, 2tr, *ch6, 1dc in each of the 3dc sts from the prev round (above the cluster), ch6, sk the cluster st, 5tr in each of the tr sts from the prev round* Repeat twice more. 

ch6, 1dc in each of the 3dc sts from the prev round (above the cluster), ch6, sk the cluster st, 3tr in each of the tr sts from the prev round, join with a sl st. 

Round 9 ch3, 2tr, *3tr in ch space, ch3, 3trcs in the second dc st from prev round, ch3, 3tr in ch sp, 1tr in each top of the 5tr sts from prev round* Repeat twice more

3tr in ch space, ch3, 3trcs in the second dc st from prev round, ch3, 3tr in ch sp, 1tr in each top of the last 3tr sts from prev round, join with a sl st.

*You should now have 4 Flowers.  This 4 round pattern will be repeated 3 more times, but note the positioning will be different. 

Round 10 ch7, sk 3, 1tr in top of 2tr from prev round, *3tr in ch sp, 1tr in top of cluster st, 3tr in ch sp, 1tr in each of the next 2tr sts from prev round, ch4, sk 3, 1 3trcs, ch4, sk 3, 1tr in each of last 2tr sts from prev round* Repeat twice more. 

3tr in ch sp, 1tr in top of cluster st, 3tr in ch sp, 1tr in each of the next 2tr sts from prev round, ch4, sk 3, 1 3trcs, ch4, sk 3, 2trcs, join with a sl st into the 3rd ch from start of round. 

Round 11 ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, sk 3tr from prev round, 1tr in each of the next 5 *ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, 1dc in the ch space from the prev round, 1dc in the top of the 3trcs from prev round, 1dc in next ch sp. ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, sk next 3tr sts.  5tr sts* Repeat twice more. 

ch4, 2trcs in the first ch of your ch4, 1dc in the ch space from the prev round, 1dc in the top of the 3trcs from prev round, sl st in last st. 

Round 12  ch6, sk cluster, 1tr in top each of the next 5 tr sts from prev round *ch6, 1dc in each of the 3dc sts from the prev round (above the cluster), ch6, sk the cluster st, 5tr in each of the tr sts from the prev round* Repeat three times. 

ch6, 1dc in first 2dc from prev round, sl st to join round in 3rd dc.  

Round 13 ch6, 3tr in ch sp, 5tr, *3tr in ch sp, ch 3, 1 3trcs in 2nd dc st from prev round, ch3, 3tr in ch sp, 5tr * Repeat twice more

3tr in ch space, ch3, 2trcs in the second dc st from prev round, join with a sl st in 3rd ch st from the first ch6

Round 14 Repeat Round 6

Round 15 Repeat Round 7

Round 16 Repeat Round 8

Round 17 Repeat Round 9

Round 18 Repeat Round 10

Round 19 Repeat Round 11

Round 20 Repeat Round 12

Round 21 Repeat Round 13

Round 22 ch1, 1dc in each st around, work 2dc in each petal space (64sts)

Round 23 ch 1, 1 sl st in each st around (64sts)

Fasten off your yarn and sew in your loose ends.

HANDLE

Ch 71 

Row 1 dc in the second ch from the hook and each st across (70sts)

Row 2 ch1, turn your work 1dc in each st across (70sts)

Fasten off your work and sew in your loose ends.

Use your darning needle to sew your handles on to each side of the Bottle bag ensuring the handle is attached on the outside of your work.

Ensure all your loose ends are sewn in.

    It’s very frustrating trying to view the pattern when the page is littered with ads. 26 in total! It’s a very fragmented page
