Crochet Alpine Tree Skirt FREE Pattern

2019-12-01 | 06:00:50

Pin it now, make later!

As soon as I saw this gorgeous Sirdar Alpine Luxe Fur effect yarn I KNEW I had to make a tree skirt with it. I mean, who doesn’t need a Crochet Tree skirt in their lives? Add a hint of fluffy white snow to your tree this Christmas with my free Alpine Tree Skirt pattern and tutorial.

THE YARN

I had never worked with yarn like this before and it did come with it’s challenges at first. I tried out a few different stitches to see what would work best for this project and I and very happy with the result. You will see that in the video tutorial that accompanies this project, I have chosen NOT to use this yarn to demonstrate with, simply because you wouldn’t be able to see what I was doing. This yarn will require you to hone in on your fingertips to feel your way through the project….but don’t worry, it’s not as difficult as it sounds and I’ll talk you through what you are feeling for in the video tutorial as the base of this post.

ADDENDUM – PLEASE NOTE THAT IN THE VIDEO TUTORIAL AT POINTS 11:44, 12:00, 12:30 AND 12:44 I SAY THAT YOU DO DOUBLE CROCHET, THIS SHOULD SAY TREBLE CROCHET (THERE ARE NO DOUBLE CROCHET STITCHES IN THIS TUTORIAL) PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES FOR THIS ERROR

Repeat on the other side.

You will then do this evenly across the tree skirt opening 3-6 more times (depending on personal preference) with the final attachments in your last row.

I’ve just finished my medium. Love this yarn – never used it before and feeling for the stitches took a bit of practice. I want to make a snuggly jumper out of it now!

I ended up staggering the increases on the odd-numbered rows from about row 7 onwards (by splitting the first repeat, if that makes sense!) otherwise the increases were sitting on top of each other too often and I was ending up with slightly noticeable corners and I wanted more of a perfect circle.

    Lovely design Sarah-Jayne, thank you

    Hello,
Wondering what I would do if I wanted an even larger shirt. I have a very large tree.

Hi Allison A simple way to make a larger skirt would be to use a larger hook – you could even try using two strands of the yarn held together. The low cost pattern which includes instructions to make the medium and large size skirt can also be found on my blog here: https://bellacocoblog.frogspark.agency/crochet-tree-skirt-free-pattern/

I found the video to be wanting in clear and complete instructions. Since this was ny first time using a video to learn a new pattern or stitch, I feel you should have made it a little more clearer about going onto this website. I also followed the instructions as clearly as they were presented and was surprised that you did not use the same stitch throughout. You also went so fast that I had to constantly pause the video

Hi Barbara I’m sorry you found the tutorial to be not clear enough and too fast to follow easily; if it helps, you can adjust the playback speed in the settings under the video to make it slower. The pattern does in fact use the same stitch throughout (UK treble) but at some points in the video I do say to make a double crochet stitch – this is an error on my behalf, as noted in the written pattern, and you should in fact be making treble crochet stitches. I hope this helps
