Prepare yourself…here comes the weather talk again! We’re waving goodbye to the British Summer, as the days are getting cooler and the nights are getting longer, it’s the perfect time to pick up your crochet hook. Who am I kidding?…EVERY DAY is the perfect time to pick up your crochet hook! But, the end of Summer is also the ideal time to make this seriously beautiful sleeveless mohair top. Made from warm fibres to keep away the chill, the lacy design is airy enough that you won’t overheat in the last of the Summer sunshine. I’m so happy to welcome Pirjo on to my blog to share the design for this wonderful crochet top.

As this is a guest post, Bella Coco Crochet is unable to answer any queries. If you have a question, please contact the designer directly and they will be happy to help you.

PATTERN NOTES

Written in UK terms

This top is a very lacy pattern and stretches quite a lot. If your stitches look too loose, you should consider a smaller hook.

CROCHET TERMS

Slip Stitch(s): ss(s): Insert hook, yarn over pull through stitch and loop on hook

Chain(s): ch(s): Yarn over, pull through

Half Treble Crochet(s): htc(s):  Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all three loop.

Double Crochet (dc): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.

Yarn Over (YO)

V-stitch (vst): Work htrc, ch 3, htrc in the same space or stitch

Cluster v-Stitch (cl vst): Work htrc2tog, ch3, htrc2tog, ch3, htrc2tog, ch3, htrc2tog into same space or stitch

Half Treble Crochet 2 Together (htrc2tog): Leaving last loop of each htrc on hook, work 2 htrc  in same space or stitch, yarn over and draw through all loops.

Unsure of the differences between UK and US terms? Need a refresher on how to do your stitches? In my ‘How to crochet: A handy reference guide’ EBook I help you with all of these terms and you can always have them to hand! You will also get exclusive access to free video instructions. You can find my EBook HERE.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Soloman knot (csk): Use the hook to pull up the loop up to a taller height, 1.5 cm. (Looks like a long chain stitch) YO and and pull through the loop on the hook. Insert the hook under the single loop in the back. YO and pull through first loop on hook. YO and pull through both loops.

The Soloman knot loop should be around 1.5 cm, the bigger loop makes the pattern too baggy.
