You can never have too many crochet join techniques under your belt! This Flat Double Crochet Join gives a sturdy yet unique look to your projects. Similarly to the Slip Stitch Join, you can choose to use your main colour to make your join nearly invisible OR use a contrast colour which creates an ‘arrow’ affect to your work.
PIN FOR LATER

I have used my Spiral Granny Square pattern to demonstrate this join. You can find the FREE tutorial for that HERE, but of course, you can use this technique to join and crochet shapes that need seaming together.

Flat Double Crochet Join
Position squares (or shapes with right sides facing up)
With a slip knot on your hook, insert hook from right side to wrong side into the corner stitch of Square A. Work a Double Crochet (US Single). Remove hook from working loop.
Insert hook from right side to wrong side in corresponding stitch of Square B. Insert hook back into working loop and Slip Stitch.
Double crochet into next stitch of Square A. Remove hook from working loop. Insert hook from right side to wrong side in corresponding stitch of Square B. Work a Slip Stitch.
This will continue until you reach the opposite corner. You will then continue this across another square to connect. This will continue until you have joined all of the squares in that column.
When working over a column join, work up to your last stitch before you get to the join. To ensure there are no gap, work your first stitch of the opposite squares into the corner space (NOTE, this stitch will have already been worked into when you did your columns).
Video Tutorial
