I’m ALL about stitches with texture. There’s just something so wonderfully tactile about running your fingers over a stitch with some oomph. The Floret Stitch is a quick and easy way to add a beautiful texture, but without being too complicated. So, it’s suitable for all skill levels!
So, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, you can use this stitch to add some terrific texture to your work. Ready to get learning?
Your skills are about to bloom like a…cauli-flower (Sorry, not sorry for the TERRIBLE pun!)

MATERIALS & TOOLS
Yarn: Any. I used Paintbox Simply Aran in the video, but this works with whatever yarn your project calls for.
Hook: Any. Same as the yarn, you can use whatever hook you need for your project. I used a 5mm for the video.
PATTERN NOTES
Written in UK terms
This pattern gives you the basic principles for the Floret stitch, designed to help you create your own projects.
Video tutorial can be found at the base of the post.
Crochet Terms
Stitch(s): St(s)
Chain(s): Ch(s): Yarn over and pull up a loop.
Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops
Unsure of the differences between UK and US terms? Need a refresher on how to do your stitches? In my ‘How to crochet: A handy reference guide’ EBook I help you with all of these terms and you can always have them to hand! You will also get exclusive access to free video instructions. You can find my EBook HERE.
A CELEBRATION OF TEXTURE
I absolutely ADORE stitches that add texture. While I love colour, texture will always have my heart. There’s just something deliciously cosy about that soft squish you get when touching a textured piece of crochet.
Here are some of my absolute favourite textured stitches, but if none of these tickle your fancy why not browse the whole collection here: textured crochet stitches.
