OK, hear me out. I know it’s Granny Square month, not Granny Stripe month…but when I was speaking about my latest blog post, Granny Stripes vs Granny Squares, it became clear that a lot of you have never even tried a granny stripe! Let me tell you a secret…if you can crochet a granny square…you can definitely crochet a granny stripe. In fact, a granny stripe is EASIER than a square because there’s no tricky corners to tackle!
MATERIALS & TOOLS
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK in 2 colours (Colour A, Colour B)
Hook: 5mm or size needed to obtain gauge
Darning needle
Scissors

TERMS & ABBREVIATIONS
Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through.
Double Crochet(s): dc(s): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.
Slip stitch (sl-st): Insert hook, yarn over, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.
Stitch(es) (st/s)

GRANNY STRIPE PATTERN
Foundation Chain: Multiples of 3 plus 2 for turning.
Row 1: dc into 3rd ch and each ch along.
Row 2: ch 3 and turn, tr in 1st st under ch, *skip 2 sts, 3 tr into next st,* repeat from * until 3 sts remain, skip 2, 2 tr into last st.
Row 3: ch 3 and turn, make 3 tr into each space along, tr into top of ch 3 from prev row.
Repeat rows 2 and 3.
