The Ludlow Cushion is HERE! I’ve been teasing this for weeks months but it’s FINALLY here. Thank you for your patience with this one.

The Yarn

The yarn I used for this projects is Paintbox Wool Mix Super Chunky, a gorgeous mix of wool and acrylic perfect for chunky jumpers, scarves and home decor. In typical Bella Coco style (or perhaps predictability) I chose Ballet Pink and Seafoam Blue.

The Materials & Pattern Details

Yarn: Paintbox Wool Mix Super Chunky, 50% Wool 50% Acrylic, 500g (17.6oz), 275m (301yds) Main colour (MC) Ballet Pink 952 (5 balls) Contrast Colour (CC) Seafoam Blue 931 (1 ball)

Hook Size: 10mm Hook (US N)

You will also need:

  • Darning needle
  • Embroidery Scissors
  • Pillow form or stuffing

Completed size: 19 inches x 19 inches (48 cm x 48 cm) approx

Gauge: 7 sts x 6 rows = 4 inches or 10cm

Abbreviations

Chain(s):ch(s):Yarn over, pull through

Double Crochet(s): dc(s):  Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

Half Treble Crochet(s): tr(s):  Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all three loops.

Front Post Treble(s): fpt(s): Yarn over, insert hook around post of stitch from front to back to front, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

Back Post Treble(s): bpt(s): Yarn over, insert hook around post of stitch from back to front to back, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.

The Pattern

Using MC, Ch 31

Foundation row: tr in BLO of 3rd ch from hook and in every ch-st to end. ch 2, turn. (29 sts plus turning chain)

Row 1: *fptr around next 4 sts, bptr around next 4 sts; repeat from * 2 more times. Fptr around next 4 sts, htr into turning ch from previous row. ch 2, turn.

Row 2: *bptr around next 4 sts, fptr around next 4 sts; repeat from * 2 more times. Bptr around next 4 sts, htr into top of ch-2 from previous row. ch 2, turn.

Row 3: *bptr around next 4 sts, fptr around next 4 sts; repeat from * 2 more times. Bptr around next 4 sts, htr into top of ch-2 from previous row. ch 2, turn.

Row 4: *fptr around next 4 sts, bptr around next 4 sts; repeat from * 2 more times. Fptr around next 4 sts, htr into top of ch-2 from previous row. ch 2, turn.

Repeat rows 1-3 6 times. Tie off

Repeat process for back panel.

Assembly

Row 1: Using MC, Set wrong sides facing each other. Working through both layers place one dc in end of each row, or in each st, dc around three sides with (dc, ch 1, dc) in each corner.  Stuff your pillow with pillow form or stuffing material.  Continue to dc across fourth side to close pillow.

Row 2: Using CC and the front facing towards you, dc in every stitch around with 2dc in each corner sp. Tie off and sew in ends.
