All the patterns also come with a video tutorial, so if you’re not hot on reading a crochet pattern just yet, I’ve got you covered. Top tip, follow the video whilst looking at the pattern to help improve your pattern following skills.

PLUS, if you’re stuck for inspiration on how to use these, I’ll give you some ideas throughout this post.

materials needed

For all of these patterns you will need:

• Scissors
• Darning needle
• Yarn
• Hook

I’ll give you the information of what yarn and hook size I’ve used for each pattern below.

abbreviations

Abbreviations: Pattern written in UK terms

Skip (sk)

Stitch(es): st(s)

Space(s): sp(s)

Slip Stitch (ss): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull yarn through stitch and loop on hook

Chain(s): (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook

Double Crochet(s): dc(s): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.

Treble Crochet(s): tr(s): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), (yarn over, draw through 2 loops) twice.

8 FREE Crochet Flower Patterns

easy crochet flower pattern

Who doesn’t like the sound of easy crochet? These easy crochet flowers make perfect appliqués like in the example above attached to a summer hat. You can have so much fun with these and attach them to blankets, garments and accessories. They make up in a few minutes so grab your favourite yarn in a selection of colours! When it comes to attaching your crocheted flowers you can either use a hot glue or sew them on. If you’d prefer a temporary embellishment, you could use safety pins as an alternative.

Hook: 4mm hook

Either create a magic circle, or chain 4, sl st in fourth ch from hook to form a ring

Round 1: [Ch 1, 4dtr in ring, dc in ring] 5 times, sl st in beginning ch-1.

Fasten off and sew in ends.

simple crochet flower pattern

Create beautiful bunting with these simple crochet flowers. Pretty, easy and effective to add a bit of your personality to your home or garden just simply attach them together with a chain or sew them onto ribbon of your choice. Alternatively you can use a hot glue gun to attach them to ribbon.

Yarn used in image: Stylecraft Special DK in colours Clematis, Palma Violet and Duck Egg.

Hook: 4mm hook.

Make a magic circle,

Round 1: Ch 1, 6dc in circle, tighten circle.

Round 2: [ch 2, tr in front loop only of next st, sl st in same front loop of st] in each st around.  

Round 3: Working into back loops of 6dc in round 1, [ch 1, tr in back loop of dc] in each st around, sl st in first ch-1 sp. 

Round 4: Ch 2, 2 tr in first ch-1 sp, ch 2, ss in same ch-1 sp, [ch 2, 2 tr in next ch-sp, ch 2, sl st in same ch-sp] around, working ss of last petal into ch-1 sp used for first petal.

Fasten off and sew in ends.

crochet daisy pattern

Why not create a bunch of these crochet daisies and join them together to create your own daisy chain! You can join your crochet daisies with a crocheted chain or sew them onto some ribbon, string or twine.

Yarn used in image: Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK. If you can’t find this yarn, a good substitute is Paintbox Cotton DK in Buttercup Yellow (423) and Paper White (401).

Hook: 4mm hook.

Using colour A, make a magic ring

Round 1: Ch 3 (sounds as st) 13 tr. Join with ss in top of ch-3 and close magic ring. Tie off using invisible join. 14sts

Join colour B in any st.

Round 2: *Ch 11, ss into base of ch-11, ss in next st; repeat from * 13 more times. Tie off.

Sew in ends.

crochet puff flower pattern

Crochet puff flowers create beautiful texture and are so versatile. They can be joined together to create a beautiful blanket, used as appliqués for garments and accessories they would also make a fun little brooch by attaching a safety pin to the back.

Yarn used in image: Rico Fashion Cotton Metallise DK

Hook: 4.5mm

(Please note, these are different to what I used in the video tutorial)

The pattern is written following the video colours. You can either use one or two colours for your puff flower. If you choose to use two colours then the video and pattern below shows you how. If you only want to use one colour when I say fasten off you will continue without fastening off.

Using Lemon coloured yarn

Foundation: Ch4, ss in forth ch from hook to form a circle.

Round 1: Ch1, 12dc into the circle, ss into the first chain and tie off.

Using your chosen petal colour, join with a ss into any dc.

Round 2: *ch3, ps, ch2, ss into the next st, Repeat from * 5 more times. 6 petals.

Fasten off and sew in ends.

crochet rose pattern

Yarn used in image: Stylecraft Special DK in Clematis, Violet and Fuchsia Purple.

Hook:

Foundation: Ch 60 (or in any multiple of 4 to adapt your size)

Row 1: Tr in 2nd ch from hook. Work 7 tr in same st, skip 1 ch and ss in next, *skip ch, 8 tr in next st, skip ch, ss in next ch; repeat from * to the end. Fasten off leaving a long end.

Starting at the beginning of your row, roll the petals from one side to another to create a flat spiral. Using a darning needle, sew along the foundation chain to secure the spiral that you have created. Sew in ends.

crochet daisy bookmark

This smaller daisy pattern works up really well as a pretty bookmark. Perfect for your bookworm family and friends as gifts.

Yarn used in image: Paintbox Cotton DK in Dusty Rose, Champagne White and Pistachio.

Hook: 4mm

Daisy

With a lemon coloured yarn, start with a magic circle.

Round 1: Ch2, 11trs into the circle, pull circle closed and ss to the top of the chain 2 from the beginning. Tie off.

Connect your cream coloured yarn with a ss between any 2 tr sts.

You will be working between the stitches in this round.

Round 2: Ch1, (htr, tr, 3dtr, tr, htr, dc) into the same sp. *skip a sp, (dc, htr, tr, 3 dtr, tr, htr, dc) repeat from * 4 more times. Join to first st with a ss. Tie off.

Stem (bookmark)

Using your green coloured yarn,

Row 1: Ch 30

Row 2: Dc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Tie off.

Sew stem onto the daisy.

This quick and easy crochet pattern can be worn as a brooch. Attach this poppy and leaf to a brooch fixture or secure to your clothing with a safety pin to wear in remembrance.

Hook: 5mm

Foundation chain: Ch4 and ss in forth ch from hook to form a circle.

Round 1: Ch1, 10dc, ss to first dc to join.

Round 2:  Ch2, 2tr, 2tr, 3dtr, 2tr, ch2, ss, ch2, 3tr, 2tr, 3dtr, 3tr, ch2, ss in next st and tie off.

Poppy Centre

10dc into a magic circle and ss to first dc  to join OR you could use a black button

Leaf

Foundation: Ch10

First side: 3tr in third ch from the hook, tr in next 3 sts, htr in next 2 sts, dc, ss, ch 2.

Second side: ss (in same space as previous ss), dc, htr in next 2 sts, tr in next 3 sts, 3tr in next st, join with ss in top of first st.

To continue on and add a stem: ch4, dc into 3rd chain from hook, dc into next ch. ss to base of leaf.

Fasten off and sew in ends.
