MATERIALS & TOOLS NEEDED

Yarn: I used MillaMia Naturally Soft Aran.

Hook: Hook to match yarn and your desired gauge. I used a 5mm.

Scissors

Darning Needle

PATTERN NOTES

Written in UK terms

This pattern gives you the basic principles for the Thermal Stitch, designed to help you create your own projects.

CROCHET TERMS

Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook

Double Crochet (dc): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.

Slip Stitch (ss): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull yarn through stitch and loop on hook

Stitch(es) (st(s))

SPECIAL STITCHES

STS– Starting thermal stitch. Insert hook into back loop only of next stitch PLUS the unworked chain on foundation chain. Yarn over hook, pull through two loops on hook. Yarn over hook and pull through remaining loops.

TS– Thermal Stitch. Insert hook into back loop only of next stitch PLUS the unworked stitch on the row below. Yarn over hook, pull through two loops on hook. Yarn over hook and pull through remaining loops.

CTS– Closing thermal Stitch. Insert hook into next stitch PLUS the unworked stitch on the row below. Yarn over hook, pull through two loops on hook. Yarn over hook and pull through remaining loops.

THERMAL STITCH PATTERN

Chain to desired length plus 2

Row 1: Dc in back loop of 2nd ch from hook and across chain. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st here or throughout) STS in first st and across. Turn

Row 3: Ch 1, TS in first st and across

Repeat row 3 until you reach your desired height.

Final Row: Ch 1, CTS in first st and across.
