If you’re looking to hook up a heart this Valentine’s Day, I have the perfect round-up for you. Packed full of pulse-racing projects to gift to a loved one, decorate your home or indulge in a little crochet-themed self love. The fabulous thing about Valentine’s Day is that it’s the perfect time to spoil yourself a bit. Fancy chocolate for breakfast? Do it. Fancy watching a cheesy rom-com? Do it. Want to treat yourself to a new ball or two of yarn? Do it. And of course Valentine’s Day Crochet is always encouraged.
Let’s clear something up. In the knitting world, there’s a phrase for when you create something for yourself, selfish knitting. I’ve never liked it. The idea that pouring inspiration, love and time into something for your own enjoyment is selfish feels so alien to me. As any crafter knows, we work hard, and with love, to create crocheted, knitted or any type of crafted goodies. Whether we choose to gift them or keep them makes no difference.
I’ve spoken a lot recently about how crochet is a form of self care. When we crochet someone a gift, it’s because we find them worthy, we want to show that we love and value them. We care enough to spend the time and effort of making something with our own hands that is just for them. We deserve to give ourselves that same level of care.
So, grab your red, pink and purple yarn, a comfy hook and settle in while I share with you my favourite Valentine’s Day projects. I hope these patterns set your heart throbbing!
If you love soft pastels and heart shapes, then you’re going to want to keep an eye on my blog over the new few weeks. I have some goodies coming your way!

This fun little Bobble Heart would make a fabulous Valentine’s Day card. You can get super crafty and make your own craft from scratch or take a sneaky shortcut and just stitch or superglue this bobble onto a shop-bought card to add a personal twist!

How about a modern twist on a Love Day classic? You can’t really get more classic Love Day gift than a bouquet of red roses. But, how about making them crochet? Not only do you not have to water them, but whoever the lucky recipient is can keep them on display forever!
These pretty Crochet Roses were customised to add an extra luxurious feel, because let’s face it…who couldn’t use an extra bit of luxury at the moment? If you want to do the same, just pop a gold or rose gold bead in the centre of the rose when it’s finished!

Whether your romantic tipple of choice is champagne, vodka and coke or a big mug of tea, it will sit perfectly on these cute Heart Coasters. Quick to make and suitable for all skill levels, this fun project is the perfect way to wear your heart on your sleeve. In fact, you could even do that literally and turn them into fun patches for your clothes!

How about something fun and filet? The Linked Hearts blanket makes a beautiful gift and would you believe…it’s super easy to make! Using just chain and treble crochet stitches (with a sprinkling of doubles and slip stitches) this pretty pastel blanket makes the ideal crochet gift for someone special – and yes, that includes yourself.

How about something granny-shaped and great? This cute little heart can be made into a greeting card, cushion, blanket…anything you like! The great strength of a granny is how adaptable it is. This Granny Square Heart adds a cute twist to a classic crochet staple.

If you were lucky enough to get your paws on Crochet Society Box 7, this sweet Heart Eye Mask makes a perfect pampering present. Because, let’s face it, what could be more loving than letting your loved one have a lie-in while you deal with the kids/pets/breakfast?
Let’s take a look at what other Valentine’s Day Patterns are out there!

How fun are these Candy Heart Pillows from Juli at Once Upon a Cheerio? The little Sweethearts-style captions really make me giggle – I love how customisable they are.

I adore these lovely little Crochet Valentine Envelopes from Jennifer of Crochet to Play. And I love that you can stuff them full of sweets even more!

This lovely Aran Hearts Throw from Red Heart might be a labour of love (read as: will take a while!) but it’s well worth the effort. Just imagine curling up with a hot drink, a romantic film and a box of chocolates under this beauty. BLISS.

Speaking of snuggling up…HOW CUTE IS THIS PILLOW? If you’re looking for a snuggle buddy this Valentine’s Day, crochet up this beautiful Valentine Kitty Pillow by Lee of CoCo Crochet Lee. SO cute.
