No matter what colour you create it in, texture is always beautiful. Crochet has some absolutely wonderful stitches to add interest to your project – from lacy and delicate to plump and squishy…and everything in between! The Zig Zag Puff stitch is one of my favourites for creating scarves, cowls and hats with eye-catching detail. Not only that, this lovely lofty stitch adds warmth with puffed up stitches.
Using only basic stitches, combined to create an intricate pattern, the Zig Zag Puff is one pattern you need to add to your repertoire.

This pattern gives you the basic principles for the crochet zig zag puff stitch, designed to help you create your own projects.
Video tutorial can be found at the base of the post.
Beginning ch does count as a st
Puff Stitch: insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch and bring up height of loop, [yarn over, insert hook into same stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch] twice, 6 loops on hook, yarn over, draw through all 6 loops on hook, chain 1 to secure the stitch.
Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook
Double Crochet (dc): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.
Half Treble Crochet(s): htc(s): Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all three loops.
Unsure of the differences between UK and US terms? Need a refresher on how to do your stitches? In my ‘How to crochet: A handy reference guide’ EBook I help you with all of these terms and you can always have them to hand! You will also get exclusive access to free video instructions.
